Anti-Aging Face Set for Dry and Sensitive Mature Skin

Most anti-aging skincare is built for skin that can tolerate retinol and acids and synthetic actives. For dry, sensitive, mature skin, that approach often makes things worse. The redness gets redder. The dryness deepens. The tightness comes back faster. This set is the opposite of that approach. It is plant-based anti-aging for the skin that has tried the retinol routine and walked away because it could not take it.

I built this set for the same reason I built everything else: my daughter's eczema, and then my own skin as I got older. Sensitive skin does not stop being sensitive just because you also want to address fine lines or uneven tone. The work has to happen with ingredients that respect the barrier, not punish it.

What is in this set

A full face routine for dry and sensitive mature skin. Five products, a $124 value. Each one works on its own and they work even better together.

Gentle Face Cleanser (3.4 oz). Aloe vera and cucumber for a clean that does not strip. No sulfates, no synthetic fragrance.

Vitamin C Brightening Serum (1 oz). The brightening step. Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) in a hydrating base of hyaluronic acid, aloe, and panthenol, to even tone and fade dullness.

Hydrating Face Serum (1 oz). Niacinamide and hyaluronic acid for the deepest plant-based hydration. Niacinamide also supports tone evenness and minimizes pores over time.

Hydrating Face Cream (1.7 oz). The barrier-repair cream. Plant butters and oils that seal in the serum and rebuild what dry mature skin loses.

Youth Elixir Face Oil (1 oz). Marula and rosehip oil for the nighttime step. Press a few drops in over the cream before bed to support skin regeneration overnight without the irritation of retinol.

The routine I recommend

Morning: cleanser, vitamin C serum, hydrating serum, cream, then your sunscreen. Night: cleanser, hydrating serum, cream, face oil. The vitamin C works the day shift, brightening while your sunscreen protects. The face oil works the night shift. Pressed in over the cream at night, the marula and rosehip do the slow regeneration work that most anti-aging routines try to force with retinol. This approach takes longer than retinol to show results (think 6 to 12 weeks instead of 4 to 6) but it does not damage the barrier in the process.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why no retinol or peptides in this set?

Retinol works fast but causes redness, peeling, and sun sensitivity in many people. For dry and sensitive mature skin, that trade-off often is not worth it. This set uses plant-based alternatives like rosehip oil (a natural source of vitamin A), vitamin C, and niacinamide that support skin regeneration and brightness without barrier damage. If you want and can tolerate retinol, add it separately. If retinol has burned your skin in the past, this set is built for you.

How long until I see results?

Hydration and softness improvements: within 1 to 2 weeks. Fine line and tone improvements: 6 to 12 weeks of consistent use. Skin texture changes: 12 weeks or more. Plant-based anti-aging is slower work than chemical treatments but builds on a healthier barrier instead of compromising it.

Is this set safe for sensitive skin?

Yes. Every product in this set is either fragrance-free or scented only with a touch of essential oil, and free of parabens, sulfates, and synthetic fragrance. Patch test the vitamin C serum first if your skin is sensitive. The full routine is safe for skin that reacts to most anti-aging products. Patch test the face oil on the side of the jaw first if you have known oil sensitivity.

Can I use this set if I have rosacea or active eczema on my face?

The cleanser and hydrating serum are safe for both. The face cream and face oil are generally well-tolerated but introduce them one at a time so you can identify any reaction. Patch test the vitamin C serum on your jawline first, and if your skin is in an active flare, wait until it calms down before introducing it. For active rosacea or eczema flare-ups, check with your dermatologist before adding new products.

Is this set pregnancy-safe?

The cleanser and hydrating serum are pregnancy-safe, and vitamin C is generally considered pregnancy-safe as well. The cream and face oil contain plant-based ingredients only and do not contain retinol or synthetic ingredients that are typically avoided during pregnancy. If you have specific pregnancy skincare concerns, check with your healthcare provider.

Who makes these?

I do. My name is Kay, and I make every jar by hand in small batches in Leonardtown, Maryland. It started with a body butter for my daughter's skin, and Jeremiah and I turned it into So Buttery Skin in 2023.

What is in the body butters?

Every scented and unscented body butter starts with shea butter, sweet almond oil, rosehip oil and vitamin E. The scented ones add essential oils, and the Unscented has none. The Eczema Soothing jar has its own formula: shea, mango and avocado butters, jojoba oil, hemp seed oil, vitamin E and a light touch of tea tree and lavender. Any allergens I should know about?

Yes. Sweet almond oil is a tree nut, and it is in all of the scented body butters and the Unscented. If you have a nut allergy, check the Ingredients tab before you buy, and patch test anything new on a small spot of skin first.

Is it vegan and cruelty free?

Yes. Everything is plant based and nothing is tested on animals.

How should I store it?

Somewhere cool and out of direct sun. Shea butter softens in the heat and firms up in the cold, and that is normal. If a jar arrives soft on a hot day, pop it in the fridge for twenty minutes.

How fast does it ship?
