I am Kay. I built So Buttery Skin in my kitchen after my daughter broke out in eczema, and the very first thing we changed in our routine was the wash. Most cleansers were too harsh for her, and once I paid attention, they were too harsh for me too. This formula is the version I would have given my younger self.

What is inside

Aloe vera and cucumber extracts lead the formula. Aloe calms, cucumber softens, and a gentle, sulfate free surfactant base lifts away makeup, sunscreen, and the day. No sulfates, no parabens, no synthetic fragrance, no essential oils that tend to trigger sensitive faces. Plant based, made in small batches.

How to use it

Wet your face with warm, not hot, water. Massage a small amount of cleanser between damp hands and work it over your face for about thirty seconds, paying attention to the hairline, the jaw, and around the nose. Rinse and pat dry. Follow with your serum while skin is still slightly damp.

Does it remove makeup?

It removes most light makeup and sunscreen on its own. For heavy makeup or waterproof formulas, we recommend a first cleanse with an oil or balm and then this cleanser as the second step.

Will it foam?

It produces a soft, low foam rather than a big bubbly lather. Foam is not the same as clean, and most sensitive skin does better with less of it.

Is this safe for eczema and rosacea prone skin?

Yes, most customers with eczema and rosacea do well with this cleanser. If you are in an active flare, patch test on your jawline first.

Can I use this on my body?

You can, but it is formulated for the more delicate skin of the face. For body, we recommend a gentle, fragrance free body wash followed by one of our body butters.

How long does a bottle last?

Around two months with twice daily use, longer if you only deep cleanse at night.

What is in the rest of the routine?
