I am Kay. I built this brand in my kitchen after my daughter's eczema, and Mystic Oud is the scent I made for myself when I wanted a body butter that felt like a candle lit room and a soft cashmere sweater. It is layered, grown up, and it works on every skin tone. The refill exists because once you find your signature, you do not want to switch.

What is in the pouch

This is a 12 ounce refill of our Mystic Oud Body Butter, the exact same plant based formula as the Mystic Oud Body Butter jar. The base is shea butter, sweet almond oil, rosehip oil, and vitamin E, with cedarwood, patchouli, sandalwood, frankincense, and a touch of vanilla. Same small batch quality, same texture, just packed in a lighter pouch so you can refill the jar you already love. Contains sweet almond oil (tree nut).

How to refill

Open the cap on your existing jar, snip the corner of the pouch, and squeeze the body butter into your jar. Smooth the top with the back of a clean spoon, secure the lid, and store at room temperature out of direct sun. Use within twelve months. After your shower, scoop a small amount and apply to damp skin so it locks in moisture and absorbs fast.

What does Mystic Oud smell like?

Warm, woody, and a little sweet. Cedarwood and sandalwood do the grounding, patchouli and frankincense add depth, and a touch of vanilla rounds it off. It reads as luxury without being heavy.

Can I layer this with my perfume?

Yes, and a lot of customers do. Oud notes blend beautifully with most warm or floral fragrances and they extend the wear of your perfume.

Is the refill the same formula as the jar?

Exactly the same. We use the same recipe, the same ingredients, and the same small batch process. The only difference is the packaging.

How much do I save with the refill?

The 12oz pouch is $39.99, which works out to $3.33 per ounce vs $3.75 per ounce for the $30 jar. The same amount of butter bought as jars would cost $45, so the refill saves you $5 and an extra container. Most regulars rotate between a jar and a refill every few months.

How long does a refill last?

About three to four months with daily, full body use. Longer if you are mostly using it on hands, elbows, and other spot areas.

Can I use this if I have eczema or very sensitive skin?

For active eczema, start with the Eczema Relief Body Butter. For sensitive but not flaring skin, this scent and our other gentle scents tend to work well. Patch test on the inside of your wrist first.

Who makes these?

I do. My name is Kay, and I make every jar by hand in small batches in Leonardtown, Maryland. It started with a body butter for my daughter's skin, and Jeremiah and I turned it into So Buttery Skin in 2023.

What is in the body butters?

Every scented and unscented body butter starts with shea butter, sweet almond oil, rosehip oil and vitamin E. The scented ones add essential oils, and the Unscented has none. The Eczema Soothing jar has its own formula: shea, mango and avocado butters, jojoba oil, hemp seed oil, vitamin E and a light touch of tea tree and lavender. Any allergens I should know about?

Yes. Sweet almond oil is a tree nut, and it is in all of the scented body butters and the Unscented. If you have a nut allergy, check the Ingredients tab before you buy, and patch test anything new on a small spot of skin first.

Is it vegan and cruelty free?

Yes. Everything is plant based and nothing is tested on animals.

How should I store it?

Somewhere cool and out of direct sun. Shea butter softens in the heat and firms up in the cold, and that is normal. If a jar arrives soft on a hot day, pop it in the fridge for twenty minutes.

How fast does it ship?

Orders ship within 2 to 3 business days from Leonardtown, Maryland, and US shipping is free over $60. You get a tracking email as soon as it leaves.
