I am Kay. I started So Buttery Skin in my kitchen after my daughter's eczema. She taught me how to think about every ingredient that touched her skin. When my own face started reacting to active heavy serums in my late thirties, I built this duo for both of us. Two products, calm ingredients, real hydration.

What is inside

You get the Hydrating Face Serum with niacinamide and hyaluronic acid for water bound hydration and even tone, and the Hydrating Face Cream with aloe vera and chamomile for a soft, soothing finish. Both are plant based and built for sensitive skin. No synthetic fragrance, no sulfates, no parabens, no fillers that exist only to bulk out the label.

How to use it

Morning and night, cleanse your face. Press two or three drops of serum into damp skin and give it ten seconds to settle. Layer the cream on top, pressing it in with the flats of your fingers. In the morning, follow with sunscreen. At night, you can layer a few drops of face oil over the cream if your skin runs very dry.

Will this work for oily or combination skin?

Yes. The serum is water light and the cream is non greasy. Combination skin tends to love this duo because it hydrates without feeling heavy or piling under makeup.

Can I use this with retinol or acids?

Yes. Use your active at night and layer the cream on top to buffer it. The serum can be used morning or night.

Is this safe during pregnancy?

Niacinamide and hyaluronic acid are generally considered pregnancy safe, and the cream is built around gentle plant ingredients. Always check with your provider if you are unsure.

Will this help dark spots or acne scarring?

Niacinamide may help with overall tone and texture over time. Consistent daily use plus sunscreen tends to make the biggest difference.

How long does the set last?

Around two months of twice daily use, longer if you are gentle with the cream.

What if my skin has eczema patches?

The serum and cream are gentle, but for active flares we recommend layering the Eczema Relief Body Butter on the patches and using the face duo on the rest of your face.

Who makes these?

I do. My name is Kay, and I make every jar by hand in small batches in Leonardtown, Maryland. It started with a body butter for my daughter's skin, and Jeremiah and I turned it into So Buttery Skin in 2023.

What is in the body butters?

Every scented and unscented body butter starts with shea butter, sweet almond oil, rosehip oil and vitamin E. The scented ones add essential oils, and the Unscented has none. The Eczema Soothing jar has its own formula: shea, mango and avocado butters, jojoba oil, hemp seed oil, vitamin E and a light touch of tea tree and lavender. Any allergens I should know about?

Yes. Sweet almond oil is a tree nut, and it is in all of the scented body butters and the Unscented. If you have a nut allergy, check the Ingredients tab before you buy, and patch test anything new on a small spot of skin first.

Is it vegan and cruelty free?

Yes. Everything is plant based and nothing is tested on animals.

How should I store it?

Somewhere cool and out of direct sun. Shea butter softens in the heat and firms up in the cold, and that is normal. If a jar arrives soft on a hot day, pop it in the fridge for twenty minutes.
