I am Kay. So Buttery Skin started in my kitchen with my daughter's eczema, and her lips were one of the first places she would crack when the weather turned. What is inside

Mango butter and coconut oil for soft, lasting moisture, candelilla wax to hold it on your lips, and vitamin E. A touch of essential oil for a subtle, warm scent. Plant based, petroleum free, no synthetic fragrance, no parabens. Made in our kitchen in the same small batch way as the body butters.

How to use it

Swipe across lips whenever they feel dry. Reapply after eating, drinking, or before bed. It is the balm that goes on the nightstand, the car cup holder, and the pocket of every coat you own. There is no overdoing it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why no petroleum?

Petroleum sits on top of the lips and creates a barrier, but it does not feed the skin. Plant butters and oils actually soften and condition the lips while sealing in moisture.

Is the vanilla scent strong?

It is soft, more bakery than candy. Most customers describe it as warm and barely there. It fades within a few minutes.

Is this safe for kids?

Yes. The ingredient list is simple and plant based. We use it on my daughter as well.

Will it work for very cracked or chapped lips?

Yes. For severely chapped lips, apply a thick layer at night and let it work while you sleep. Reapply during the day as needed.

Is it safe during pregnancy?

Yes, this is a pregnancy friendly balm. Vanilla essential oil at this level is widely considered safe.

Can I wear lipstick over it?

Yes. Apply, blot lightly with a tissue, then layer your lipstick on top for color that does not slide.

Who makes these?

I do. My name is Kay, and I make every jar by hand in small batches in Leonardtown, Maryland. It started with a body butter for my daughter's skin, and Jeremiah and I turned it into So Buttery Skin in 2023.

What is in the body butters?

Every scented and unscented body butter starts with shea butter, sweet almond oil, rosehip oil and vitamin E. The scented ones add essential oils, and the Unscented has none. The Eczema Soothing jar has its own formula: shea, mango and avocado butters, jojoba oil, hemp seed oil, vitamin E and a light touch of tea tree and lavender. Any allergens I should know about?

Yes. Sweet almond oil is a tree nut, and it is in all of the scented body butters and the Unscented. If you have a nut allergy, check the Ingredients tab before you buy, and patch test anything new on a small spot of skin first.

Is it vegan and cruelty free?

Yes. Everything is plant based and nothing is tested on animals.

How should I store it?

Somewhere cool and out of direct sun. Shea butter softens in the heat and firms up in the cold, and that is normal. If a jar arrives soft on a hot day, pop it in the fridge for twenty minutes.

How fast does it ship?
